Priyanka Chopra was born in Jamshedpur to parents who were both physicians in the Indian Army. As a consequence of their occupations, Priyanka Chopra habitually travelled as a teenager but considers Bareilly to be her genuine home. Priyanka Chopra also lived for a period with her aunt in the United States. In 2000, her mother entered her into the Femina Miss India competition, in which she completed second and took the Femina Miss India World title.
